Author We may be technical sound and a certification in that technology can endorse our technical capability. Microsoft learning team has released many certifications and it will bring good credibility within the project/company/client. With more adoption of virtual teams culture, using different methodologies in a particular project and trying to execute the project with less cost and fast delivery, clients teams are very much interested to take people who are technically good and they are using certification as one of the criteria to evaluate the resource or team.
For commerce server technology, unfortunately we don’t have any certification and I feel Microsoft doesn’t have any plans to offer this certification in near future. So, what can be our alternative. Since ecommerce is linked with different technologies, we can get certified in those technologies. Some of them can be
MCPD – Enterprise Applications (ASP.NET, Windows Application)
MOSS/WSS Application Development
BizTalk Server 2006
Since commerce server has very little client base, I doubt Microsoft server group will release CS certification in near future. Hope they will come up with certification from Commerce server 7.
